If you’re going on a picnic, there’s nothing more important than having the perfect picnic set. A great picnic set means you never have to be afraid of forgetting to take something on a picnic, because everything you need is included. While it’s possible to get ready-made sets, many people like to make their own. Here are some tips to remember if you’re trying to make your own perfect picnic set.
Begin with the picnic basket
It’s important to start with a picnic basket because it will be the basis of your entire set. Since you’re making it yourself, choose from one of our empty picnic baskets. It should be able to fit a range of items, including food, drinks and picnic accessories. Getting a basket that’s too small will only result in you having to carry additional items outside the basket, which would defeat the whole purpose. We have a lot of designs, ranging from traditional wicker baskets to fashionable, insulated baskets, so select the one that fits your personality best.
Include the basic picnic accessories
Once you have the picnic basket, you need to figure out how many people are going picnicking. This will determine how many utensils and accessories you should plan on having. You may potentially have to create an additional picnic set if there are more than four people going.
When you know how many people are going, begin gathering accessories for the set. The basics you will need are plates, utensils, napkins and cups. We sell kits that come with transportable utensils. If you’re taking your own, remember to put them in a container, so they don’t come loose and make a mess in the basket. Similarly, plates and cups should be placed at the bottom and sides of the basket, so you can keep things organized.
Remember additional accessories as needed
After the basic items, such as plates, cups, utensils and napkins, are included, remember to add any additional accessories you might need. For example, if you’re one of the many people who love to take wine on picnics, don’t forget a corkscrew, glasses and a wine holder. Another beverage people like to take on picnics is coffee. Coffee requires a thermos, mugs and extra utensils.
Finally, one last accessory you might want to take is a picnic blanket. While they’re not necessary, picnic blankets add a certain comfort and familiarity to the picnic. Try to place it near the top of the picnic basket, so you don’t have to remove everything around to get it out.
Add the food
Of course, the perfect picnic set is never complete without food. If everything goes as planned, all your food and drinks should fit nicely into your picnic basket. When your set is ready, get outside and enjoy the picnic, because having a great picnic set means you don’t have to worry about forgetting something at home.
